Boone High has decided to make a lipdub, also known as a lip synch video, for a homecoming celebration on Friday, October 10th. The students will be getting out of school an hour early to videotape it. The seniors will be the ones to walk around the school and lip synch the song choices. The other students will be split up either in their clubs or in their 9th hour classes, if they aren’t in a club. Homerooms made posters for each club to hold up in their scene of the lipdub.
Seniors Hailey Osborn and Ellen Titman came up with the idea and brought it up with Boone High’s new Principal Mr. Byam. He loved the idea and thought it was a great way to create community at BHS. Hailey said, “Ellen and I thought it would be a nice way for seniors to say farewell to Homecoming.”
Some students and teachers, however, aren’t all that excited for this lipdub. The Bible Study students were a little upset that they wouldn’t be allowed to make a poster for the video. BHS Superintendent Menard said, “The separation of church and state, states that we can’t show proreligion in the school. I’m sorry.” A few students also think that the lipdub is just a waste of time. They believe we should be doing school work and not messing around with a video.
In conclusion, the students of BHS are very opinionated about the whole lipdub ordeal. Some are excited and can’t wait to see the finished product, while others just want to discard the idea all together. Which side are you on?
