In April two Boone students qualified for the National Technology Student Association Conference to be held in Washington D.C. the following summer. Michaela Lendt and Payten Bailey current seniors each took three projects to the National Conference to be competed against over 6,700 students from around the world making the National Conference the highest level of competition While the level of competition increases to a higher level Payten Bailey returned victorious. She flew back home with a first place trophy in 2D Computer Aided Design. While Michaela did not place with her entries she is currently serving as the Iowa TSA State President. State Presidents are required to attend various meetings throughout the Conference. Being only two among thousands the Boone students managed to stand out and leave their mark.
This was not Boone’s first appearance at a National Conference, Michaela Lendt attended the 2012 National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. She was the first Boone student to ever attend the highest level of competition. The National Conference is held annually in late June located in various cities around the United States. Past conferences have also been located in Denver, Colorado; Orlando, Florida; Dallas, Texas; Baltimore, Maryland; and Nashville, Tennessee.
“While this was only the first placing at the National level from Boone, more should be expected in coming seasons, “ said Michaela. The future will reveal what it may be TSA will always be ready for a challenge as they are always following their motto: Learning to Live in a Technical World.
