Boone High School has a new Social Studies teacher this year, Mrs. Morley. She originally came from New York where she spent two years as a high school substitute teacher and spent four years teaching at Syracuse University. She moved to Ames this January and decided that she wanted to teach high school. She teaches psychology, AP psychology and American history. Some of her pet peeves are when students don’t respect the teachers or others. She also doesn’t like how students don’t check their emails.
Mrs. Morley said that she didn’t figure out that she wanted to teach until she was 23. She said that she likes to teach because it keeps her busy. She also wants to help high school kids get ready for college. She said that she likes Boone so far. She likes the historic homes and the focus on school. When asked what is her least favorite part of Boone, she said the trains and how she always get caught by them. She also said that Boone could use a coffee shop and a clothing store.
Mrs. Morley played in three different sports in high school soccer, softball and basketball. She also was in chess club and student government. In college she played soccer, founded a sorority and created a society for human resources. She had three jobs while she was in college barista, librarian and tutor.
When asked what she would do with a million dollars she said she would pay off college debt for her and her fiance. She would also pay off their house and buy a cabin on a lake. With the rest of the money she would donate to lung cancer, leukemia and breast cancer charities.
