Boone High school’s Homecoming festivities are coming up the week of October 14th, and with it comes a new group of students for the Homecoming Court. This year’s nominees for King are: Dillon Calkins, Ashton Clemons, Ryan Olson, Paul Solomon, and Jaymen Tedrow. The nominees for Queen are: Paige Dighton, Carrie Overland, Bailey Schminke, Linsey Schminke, and Ellen Titman.
Paige Dighton is involved in dance, tennis, National Honors Society, FCCLA, and GRIP mentoring. She is a Varsity Cheerleader for both football and wrestling. Dighton plans to attend Iowa or Iowa State University and major in Psychology with a minor in Child Development. She then plans to become a Child Life Specialist. During her Senior year she is most looking forward to getting to know everyone's personalities and connecting with new people. Ryan Olson is involved in football, track and baseball. Olson is planning on attending Iowa State University and majoring in business. He is looking forward to spending time with his friends and playing sports during his Senior year.
Carrie Overland is involved in volleyball, softball, and basketball. Overland plans to go to either the University of Iowa or the University of Northern Iowa to major in education and coaching. She is looking forward to hanging out with all her friends because its the last year they will all be together, talking to other people in her class she normally doesn’t talk to, and getting to know them better this year. Dillon Calkins is involved in football, wrestling, track, baseball, National Honor Society, Scholastic Honor Society, and the Varsity B club. Calkins is undecided on where he wants to attend college, but he plans to play college football and major in Exercise Science and Kinesiology. He is most excited for all the school dances.
Bailey Schminke is involved in volleyball, track, softball, and National Honor Society. Schminke is planning to attend Iowa State University and major in Pre-Med. She is most looking forward to making the last memories count and making new friends along the way this year. When asked how it felt to be on court with her sister Linsey, she stated, “It’s pretty exciting actually. A lot of people think we’d be jealous of each other but I don’t think it will be like that at all, I’ll be happy for anyone that wins.” Ashton Clemons is involved in football, basketball, track, baseball, and National Honor Society. Clemons plans to major in Exercise Science and Kinesiology, he plans to play football but has not decided what school he wants to attend. He is most excited about Homecoming, the rest of his sports, Senior nights, and Prom.
Linsey Schminke is involved in track, softball, FCCLA, and National Honors Society. She is also a Varsity Cheerleader for both football and wrestling. Schminke is planning on attending Iowa State University and trying out to be a cheerleader there, with plans to a major in Interior Design and minor in Business. She is most excited about another good track season and Prom. Jaymen Tedrow is involved in football, baseball, and track. Tedrow plans to attend Grandview to become a Strength and Conditioning Coach. He is most excited about the dances his Senior year.
Ellen Titman is involved in drill team, dance, tennis, student council, National Honor Society, and Scholastic Honor Society. She is a Varsity Cheerleader for both football and winter cheer, and is also Senior Class Vice President. Titman plans to attend Iowa State University to major in Art and Graphic Design. She is most excited about spending time with everyone because its their last year together. Paul Solomon is involved in Marching Band, student council, National Honor Society, tennis, and choir. He is also Student Body President. Solomon is planning to attend the United States Naval Academy. He is most looking forward to his Senior dances.
