Prom is right around the corner here at Boone High, which means that the Prom Court has been announced. The Queen candidates are; Erin Castle, Madalyn Sturtz, Allie Swanson, Mikayla Eppert, and Madison Neely. The King candidates are Mitch Stumbo, Greg Paul, Kurt Yaeger, Nate McBride, and Nick Behrendt.
Erin Castle will be attending the University of Iowa to further her gymnastics career. Erin is a National Honor Society Member, and a Scholastic Honors Society member. Erin advises the younger students to enjoy high school while they can. “Be Involved and be genuinely nice, and friendly to everyone. Have fun and enjoy every moment that senior year brings because it only happens once.”
Madalyn Sturtz will be attending DMACC, then continuing her education and UNI for teaching. Madalyn has participated in volleyball, basketball, and swing choir. Madalyn loved participating in as many things as possible, and advises others too as well. “My advice to the future seniors would be to go to everything. Stay involved as much as possible.”
Allie Swanson will also attend DMACC and then hopes to transfer to a four year school to study education. One of Allie’s favorite memories from high school was being apart of the girl’s basketball team when they made it to state. Allie advises future seniors to be involved, and to cherish their senior year. “Be involved in everything, and be friends with everyone because high school is over before you know it.”
Mikayla Eppert will attend the University of Iowa to major in Spanish, and hopefully to start the Pre-med track. Some of mikayla’s most memorable moment have came from soccer, cross country, and choir concert. Mikayla urges the future students to have a plan. “Have a plan for your future, because senior year approaches before you know it!”
Madison Neely will attend DMACC and then hopes to transfer to Iowa State to study journalism and mass communications. Some of Madi Neely’s highschool highlights include being apart of fall and winter cheerleading, drill team, BooneTV, and orchestra. Maddie advises the future seniors to make the most of their time. “Make the most of your time you have in highschool and be involved in everything.”
Mitch stumbo will be attending Iowa State University to study finance. His favorite memories include; Tennis, cheering on the ‘Dors, dances, and stalling Mr. Wells’s class. Stumbo’s advice to future seniors is to be nice to everyone.
Greg Paul will be attending Iowa State University. Greg has been involved in tennis, speech team, theatre, FFA, and swing choir. Greg urges the future seniors to make as many memories as possible and to have fun.
Kurt Yaeger will be attending Nebraska Wesleyan University to continue his soccer career. He will study nursing. When asked what advice Kurt would give to future seniors he said, “If you want a varsity letter, join the soccer team.”
Nate McBride will be attending Iowa State University to major in athletic training. Some of Nate’s favorite memories include going to state for baseball and cheering on the ‘Dors in the student section. Nate advises the future seniors to stay on top of their homework. “Don’t blow off your assignments just because you’re almost done with highschool.”
Nick Behrendt will be attending Creighton University to major in business, while also participating in the Freshman Leadership Program. Nick participates in many activities such as: tennis, baseball, band, swing choir, and basketball cheerleading. Nick advises the future seniors to cherish their senior year. “Stay involved as much as possible, but make sure to manage your time wisely.”
The King and Queen will be crowned at the Ki Hi Kapper after prom, which takes place at Boone DMACC. Crowning will begin at 2:30am.
