Try outs for SCIBBA were December 16, and prior to auditions, Mr. Truckenmiller was working individually with the three students. He worked with them on lessons involving rhythm, key signature, and attitudes. They focused on playing fast complicated sections of music, while still making it sound musical. SCIBBA is difficult do to the music that is played, while it is performed as a band, each person plays complicated music. Mr Truckenmiller says, “It was an exciting day of rehearsal, the guest conductors were a lot of fun to watch, and it gave me some great ideas for later concerts at Boone High.” Anna Baldwin was able to get benefit out of performing at SCIBBA. Because rehearsal lasted all day, it gave her great endurance, and a chance to play difficult music with the top musical performing students in the state of Iowa.
The concert is annual and the students who did not make it this year will have another chance next year. However, it is more difficult as a younger student to make SCIBBA. Despite this, Anna Baldwin made SCIBBA for the first time as a sophomore. With hard work and practice, anyone has a chance.
