It’s that time again! Boone High School recently had auditions for the school play, The Hobbit. If you don’t know, The Hobbit is basically the prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Students took to the stage to audition for a variety of different roles for the fantasy series. Looking back, the Boone High play group has performed a spectrum of different plays, including Legally Blonde, Pink Panther, Grease, Cinderella, I Hate Shakespeare, as well as the rest of the Boone High play legacy. Auditions for The Hobbit were September 7th-9th, and attracted a large amount of the Boone High community. “Around 50 or more students came to audition,” says Saydie Howard, a sophomore at Boone High and Boone theater veteran. “For the auditioning process we started off by playing games and then we did warm-ups and ‘cold’ reads with the script. After that we just got on the stage and performed it.” Roles in the upcoming play include: Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf, Dory (dwarf), 1st Assistant, and the many other fulfilling spotlight roles. As exciting as it sounds, The Hobbit will shed its’ spotlight later this year and has a growing audience waiting for its’ appearance. Rehearsals and practices will prepare the cast for the exciting upcoming performances. While the cast is preparing, the Boone community will be anxiously waiting to see the show for themselves. |
