The 2015-2016 school year at Boone High has been full of surprises already, in only a week. Many new additions have been added to the building, creating the most relaxed, yet educational facility possible. By popular opinion, however, the student body’s favorite addition is Cafe Olé, the school’s own personal coffee and snack shop.
When one enters the newest addition to the school, they are probably taken aback by two things-the large, beautiful cafeteria, and to the right, the small, comfortable cafe. Cafe Olé is decorated in a caribou theme, accenting the rest of the school in a very pleasing manner. It has brand new seating and accessories- cream, light green, and brown make for a relaxed environment for students to study and socialize in.
This coffee shop doesn’t just specialize in coffee, however. It also serves daily lunch specials, such as Asian Chicken Salad or breakfast for lunch! Also available for purchase are homemade, or rather schoolmade, lattes, or cappuccinos. Other things like Gatorade drinks are also available.
Kris Byam, Boone High School’s Principal, says that Cafe Olé’s environment was inspired by the student body. With coffee shops and coffee in general being so popular, and the amount of coffee students brought into the building in the past, he knew a coffee shop would be the perfect, friendly environment for students. However, the cafe is not a right-it is a privilege. Byam stated, “I think in general, it’s one of those things we have to keep clean because it's a privilege for the students, and making sure they can take care of it is important.”
