Legally Blonde is coming to the Boone High theater, and Senior and Varsity Cheerleader, Catherine Anderson has received the lead role of Elle Woods, a peppy, girly, and seemingly ditzy blonde, that overcomes the status quo and fights through all obstacles to try and win back the love of her life at Harvard Law School.
“I was thrilled to get the lead!” Anderson confesses. Stating that she wasn’t expecting to get the lead at all. She actually wasn’t expecting to be able to do the musical at all, because one of the performance nights is the same as the state cheerleading contest, but somehow the times ended up working out.
Anderson’s family has been very supportive of her busy schedule. “My parents have been crazy understanding,” she says. Catherine’s older sister, Emily, has theatrical experience and was very active in high school plays and tech.
Anderson shares that she thinks the show will be amazing. She loves the music, the script, and thinks it will be a great performance from everyone in theater. “The play has a great story and the music is awesome.” She can’t think of anything she doesn’t like about the show but has a few favorite parts. She enjoys the songs, “Chip on My Shoulder” and “So Much Better” because they are both songs about how she is going to overcome anything that comes her way. She also likes the song “Ohmigosh You Guys” because it’s so girly and very “Elle Woods.” She also likes it because it “sneaks into other scenes later” which she finds very fun.
Anderson says she cannot wait for show night and advises everyone to go check it out and show some red pride. The shows will be Friday, October 31st and Saturday November 1st starting at seven pm in the BHS auditorium.
