To kick off the event, Mr. Byam spoke to the crowd about the new generation of scholars being inducted. He impressed upon them their duty, and their place among their fellow NHS members. After, a few of last years’ inductees spoke, and told of their experiences and place in NHS.
They then lit the candles that highlighted the core values of NHS; scholarship, character, service, and leadership. After each candle was lit, a member read the definition and personal meaning of each candle. After the candle lighting, the induction of new members began, where each would take the stage to sign the book of current members.
Each inductee had their chance to be added among their peers, and now they will take part in current events, and future events, such as the sales during homecoming week. Members say to just wait and see what they have in store for us.It’s an eventful time of year for NHS as they induct new members and have their annual homecoming fundraisers. They anticipate a good year to come.
