Boone High School is half way through the year and the Winter Formal dance is coming up on Saturday February 7th. Here are the people nominated for court:
John DeVries participates in football, swimming, track, grip mentoring, Scholastic Honor Society and National Honor Society. He is state swim meet qualifier, three time all academic all conference, honor roll, academic letter. John is planning on studying at Iowa State University with an undeclared major.
Tyler Newbold participates in baseball and has been on honor roll for 4 consecutive years. Tyler is planning to attend the University of Iowa with an undeclared major.
Jacob Krafcisin is a part of Academic Team, basketball and tennis. He has been on the honor roll and achieved the academic award for four consecutive years. Jake is planning to attend Des Moines Area Community College and major in Microbiology.
Tyler Stotts is a member of mock trial, football, and is a two year varsity soccer captain. Tyler will be attending Letterman college with a soccer scholarship and two year for a football scholarship. He plans to major in Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering.
Samuel Byriel is the National Honor Society president, he’s the student body treasurer and has participated in concert band, marching band, pep band, jazz band, chorale, swing choir, and was a drum major. Sam also participated in cross country, tennis, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Bible Study club and Foreign Language Club. He is on the YSS advisory board and honor roll; he’s an academic letter recipient, Scholastic Honors Society and has received the Rotary Youth Leadership Award and the I Dare You Award. Sam is planning going to work as a quad leader and counselor at Hidden Acres Christian Camp for the summer. In the fall he plans to attend the University of Northwestern Minnesota and plans to major in a field of business and minor in Biblical studies and Spanish.
Sarah Gustofson participates in speech team and soccer. She attended sate speech for chorale reading three years in a row and she has lettered twice in choir. Sarah is planning to attend Iowa State University with an undeclared major.
Maren LaFollette participated in diving where she earned a varsity letter and was a team captain. She was a part of the Scholastic Honors Society, Student Council, recipient of the academic letter, and she is a GRIP mentor. Maren is planning to attend the University of Northern Iowa next year to major in business finance, and later plans to become a financial advisor.
Jacy Cornelis participates in swing choir, National Honor Society, Student Council and tennis. She is a GRIP mentor. She is student body vice president and National Honor Society secretary. Jacy is planning to attend Iowa State University next fall to major in pre physical therapy and pre athletic training.
Megha Patel has made the dean’s list at Des Moines Area Community College. She is the varsity wrestling cheer captain, Varsity B participant, secretary of the student body and is a part of student council. Megha plans to attend Iowa University with an undeclared major.
Macy Caruth has participated in tennis for four years and has been a GRIP mentor for two years. Macy is planning to attend Kirkwood for two years and major in human survives/social work and then continuing her education at a university.
