What do you look for in a movie? Well, if it’s an old Hugh Jackman slicing people with his knife claws, then this movie is for you. Marvel’s newest masterpiece came to theaters last week and it is awesome. Logan is different than past Marvel movies, however. In this film, it really brings out the dark side, especially the bitterness in the character of Logan. It is an interesting way to convey Logan at this point in his life.
Logan is a movie about Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, as a much older and worn out Wolverine. In this movie, he is taking care of another X-Men, Professor Charles Xavier who is played by Patrick Stewart. They come across a little girl who is being chased by bad guys. Logan and Charles Xavier are pulled into this girls problems and are responsible for taking care of her and taking her to another place.
There are, like all movies, cons that need to be brought up. It is almost 2 and a half hours runtime, so that causes dips that aren’t as entertaining. I found myself wanting to see constant action which of course is unreasonable. It should also be pointed out that the movie is a very hard “R”. It contains a lot of profanity and gore. Right off the bat, this becomes apparent, however, this did not detract from the enjoyability of the movie.
I was a big fan of Charles Xavier in this movie. I thought he brought a lot of character and deepness to the storyline. And of course, Logan was great in this movie too. It was very evident that he was sick and tired of being the Wolverine. He was very bitter and didn’t seem to like anybody.
Overall, I thought Logan was a great movie for those Marvel fans out there. It was a good personal story about someone who has had a dark life and is just done with it all. I thought the cast was great and it is exactly was I was hoping for when I first heard about the movie. In the end, I give it 9/10.
