Last year, the new portion of the high school was opened up. Since the school opened the new section, they have brought in new furniture, repainted things, and gave the school a new environment than it had before. This school year, both students and teachers have noticed damage to the new furniture, new paint being chipped, and trash all around the school.
There are students who will climb over the new furniture in the commons, pick at the material on it, and do not treat it with respect. Once lunch periods are over, there is garbage left lying around all around the commons when there are trash and recycling cans spaced all over the commons. Many of the problems that Boone High is having with furniture would be solved if students would learn to not climb over furniture or pick at the material. If students see damage to any of the new furniture, whether it be in the commons or in the library, they should tell a teacher. When a student has garbage, they should take it with them to their next class or wherever they go to next, or utilize one of Boone High’s many trash cans and their throw garbage away.
Teachers are supposed to monitor the different lunch hours to make sure students do what they are supposed to do and don’t mess around. Boone High needs to get more teachers on duty for lunch hours so they can better identify the students who leave trash around or the students who climb over the furniture. The students who are caught by teachers doing these things need to have some sort of punishment so it will stop, such as making the students who are seen clean the commons after lunch classes.
Boone High has a lot of trash and recycling cans in the school but students will just choose to ignore them. Every classroom in the school has at least one trash can and some classrooms have even more. The hallways in the school have several trash cans too, but somehow we end up with garbage throughout the school. Many students really don’t think about it when they don’t throw something away, but when many students already don’t throw things away, the numbers pile up quickly. The trash cans are easily accessible so students should try and use them instead of leaving their trash wherever they are for someone else to pick up. Every little bit can add up to a lot quickly so let’s do our own job and throw our trash away. The student body needs to work as a whole to better the school.
