Tuesday night, September 30th, the Boone Toreadors defeated the Ballard Bombers in three quick sets.
The Toreadors dominated in the first set. They gained a commendable lead over the Bombers to begin the nights match. They were able to hold it through the end. The final score was 25-12. In the Toreador’s second match of the night the Bombers started off with a slight lead. The Toreadors managed to tie early on. They then took the lead over Ballard and won 25-22. Boone came out stronger than ever in the third match. They gained a huge lead over the Bombers, and finished it off winning 25-8.
Senior Mariah McPartland had a huge night for the Toreadors with 18 kills. Also, Senior Serena Sandvig had a big night with 9 kills. Senior Carrie Overland also helped the Toreadors succeed with 33 assists. Also, the other seniors on the Boone volleyball team include Bailey Schminke, Kara Johnson, Kayley Patrick, and Rachel Braun.
Senior Carrie Overland says, “Our main goal as a team is to win conference and go to state.” Overland also states “We mainly need to stay consistent with our playing and keep working hard at practice on our passing and blocking. We also need to keep our energy level high no matter who we are playing in order to reach our goals.”
The Toreadors next game is an Invitational at 8:30 AM Saturday, October, 4. lt will be held at Newton High School. The teams Boone will be competing against include Eddyville-Blakesburg, Harlan, Carlisle, Des Moines North, Newtown,
