Boone volleyball hosted three times, Humboldt, Dallas Center-Grimes, and Pocahontas Area Tuesday night, October 21st. The Boone Toreadors also defeated the three times all in two sets.
The Toreadors started off with the Humboldt Wildcats. The Toreadors dominated in the first set against the Wildcats. They won 25-20. The Wildcats dominated in the second set against the Toreadors with an early lead. Boone rallied back, tying the Wildcats. Boone eventually pulled ahead, pulling out the win 27-25. Senior Mariah McPartland had 15 kills against the Wildcats. Also, Senior Serena Sandvig had 9 kills against the Humboldt Wildcats.
The next match for the Toreadors was against the Pocahontas Indians. Boone came out in both matches against the Indians. They gained quick leads in both sets. Boone won the first set 25-10, while the second set was 25-14. Senior Mariah McPartland had twelve kills against the Indians. Sophomore Carlie Romig had twelve digs for the Toreadors.
Boone’s final match of the night was against the DCG FIllies. Boone dominated in the first set against the Fillies gaining a quick lead. They continued to hold a steady lead over the Fillies and won 25-11. The Fillies came out very strong in the second match, almost as if a new team was on the court. DCG gained a quick lead over the Toreadors 10-17. Boone then rallied back tying the Fillies. The Toreadors then gained a slight lead over the Fillies and fought to stay ahead until the end. The Toreadors managed to pull out the win against the Fillies 25-22. Senior Mariah McPartland contributed for the Toreadors with seven kills against the Fillies. Senior Serena Sandvig also had a good game adding six more kills. As well as Kara Johnson with five kills.
The Toreadors next game will be the second round of Regionals at Boone High against Humboldt or Webster City at 7:00 PM.
