The Boone volleyball team defeated two teams in the Boone triangular on Tuesday, October 7th. They defeated Greene County and Gilbert.
The first game for the Toreadors was against Greene County. The Toreadors struggled in the first match against Rams, but managed to stay close throughout the match. The Toreadors couldn’t pull out the win and lost 28-26. Boone came out strong in the second match. They gained an early lead and held it throughout the match winning 25-18. Going in to the final match for the Toreadors, they came out dominant. The Toreadors once again gained an early lead and won 15-7 over the Greene County Rams.
Senior Mariah McPartland once again had a great game for the Toreadors with 16 kills. Also, Senior Serena Sandvig had 9 kills for the Toreadors. Setter, Senior Carrie Overland had 25 assists for the Toreadors.
The second game for Boone was against the Gilbert Tigers. The Toreadors came out strong from the start. They pulled a quick lead over the Tigers. Boone won 25-21. The second match started off much like the first, with an early over over Gilbert. Boone continued to gain a bigger lead and won 25-16.
McPartland once again had a great game for the Toreadors with 16 kills. Also, Sandvig and Freshman Claire Sandvig had 6 kills for the Toreadors. Overland also contributed to Boone’s win over the Tigers with 28 assists.
The next match for the Boone Toreadors will be this Saturday, October 11th at Mason City.
