The Boone Toreadors boys basketball team has been putting in a lot of time over the summer and the remaining offseason. The Toreadors have participated in the Sunday leagues at DMACC. This last weekend, September 21st, they played two games, going 1-1. Boone beat the Des Moines East Scarlets 71-70, but lost to Cedar Rapids Prairie Valley 76-41.
The Toreadors and Scarlets were even throughout the game. Boone pulled through, winning 71-70. During the second game of Boone’s, Prairie Valley pulled ahead right away. Boone did manage to decrease the lead a little, but couldn’t manage to ge the win, losing 76-41.
September 21st, is the final weekend the Toreadors will be participating in the Sunday League at DMACC. Along with last weekend, they played in four other Sunday weekends. They also have been lifting, working out, and doing pick up games during open gyms twice a week to improve their skills.
Senior Jacob Johnson states his goals for the season, “Well first and foremost go out and win games. I’d love to see us in contention for a conference title, and then for the postseason just see what happens.” Johnson also says, “The thing we need to work on as a team is communication. Just being able to constantly let teammates know where were at and what’s happening around us, but I really like the way we are looking as a team.”
