The Toreadors entered their third game of the season facing the Humboldt Wildcats, September 12, at 7:30pm. Humboldt running back Brady Ross had a standout game with five touchdowns and a two tackles on defense. With Humboldt's first charge of the game Ross ran in for a few yard for the touchdown. Later Ross did it again from the same distance. With one minute and twenty seconds left in the first quarter, Ross showed that he was serious by putting another seven points on the board. At the end of the first quarter, Humboldt was leading 21-0.
In the second quarter, the Wildcats ran for their fourth touchdown of the night. Even though the Toreadors were down, they were still going to put up a fight. Halfway through the second quarter, Toreador Senior,Ashton Clemons, caught and ran for a touchdown, putting Boone on the board. With time winding down in the second quarter, Tanner Schminke threaded the needle to Clemons again. Going into the locker room, the Toreadors were down 14-35.
Coming into the second half Ross ran in for his fourth and fifth touchdowns of the night. By this time, Boone really needed a miracle to come back and win this game. With little left in the game Junior Danny Anderson weaved in between Wildcats players to make the Toreador a little closer.
In the end, Humboldt’s offense couldn't be stopped with Ross’s five touchdowns. The Toreadors took their third loss of the season and are still looking for their first win.
