The (1-6) Toreadors came into the homecoming game in need of a win. The only obstacle in there was the (3-4) Greene County Rams. Boone started out solid but the Rams offense was too strong for Boone. The Toreadors fell once again with the final score being 52-23.
The Toreador defense started out strong with a fumble recovery by Ryan Olson that gave the Toreadors good field position. It was Boone’s offense time to show what they can do. They rushed and passed down the field to give them a seven point lead. The ‘Dors kicked off and the Rams ran back the kick to Boone’s 11 yard line which lead the them tying the game back up.
The Toreador defense stood tall as Ashton Clemons picked off his third interception of the year and gave the ball back to Boone. The Toreador weren't messing around when Schminke threw for a 45 yard pass to Caleb Wallace to make the score 14-7. The Rams ended the half by tacking on two more unanswered touchdowns.
Greene County came out of the locker room firing out of all cylinders. They put up two more unanswered touchdowns, increasing their lead to 21 points. The Toreadors were falling behind and needed something to happen if they wanted a chance to get their second win of the season. Boone was driving down the field and it looked like Schminke was going into the end zone easy but the Rams defense came up behind him stripped the ball to give them back the ball on the two yard line.
The Toreador defense came back out on the field trying to conceal the Rams defense. Greene County stepped back and Boone jumped on top of them of give the Toreadors a safety. Boone’s offense came back on the field and trotted down the field to give them their last touchdown of the night.
Greene County racked up 16 more points and knocked the Toreadors out of playoff contention. Boone fell to 1-7 on the year even thought Clemons racked up 13.5 tackles and Caleb Wallace had 111 yards.
