The Boone Toreadors fought five close matches against the Carroll Tigers, but came up short on Tuesday, September 9th. Boone lost two games to three after falling short 15-13 in the fifth match.
In the first match Carroll gained a quick lead, but the Toreadors came right back to tie it. Boone couldn’t finish it off and lost 25-23. The second match started much like the first. Carroll gained a huge lead, but the toreadors managed to string a few points together to come back and take the lead, and won 25-23. The Toreadors gained a lead in the third match. The Tigers did make a slight comeback, but couldn’t pull through. Boone won 25-20.
During the fourth match the Toreadors gained a strong lead right off the bat. The Tigers came back to tie later in the match, and eventually went on to win 25-21. The Toreadors once again, gained a strong lead in the fifth match. They had a 10-2 lead over the Tigers. Carroll then made a comeback to beat Boone 15-13.
Senior Mariah McPartland had a huge night for the Toreadors with twenty-two kills and four blocks. Senior, Serena Sandvig also had a good night with ten kills. Sandvig said the team needs to work on finishing. “Finishing. We’ll get up, then relax when we need to keep pushing.” Freshman Claire Sandvig had one kill and five sets. “I was very nervous before the game, but once I got on the court the nerves went away,” said Claire Sandvig.
The Toreadors next game is Thursday, September 18th at 7:15 PM against Adel DeSoto Minburn. The game will be held at ADM High School.
