The Boone Boys Basketball team went to Marshalltown looking for a refreshing win. After coming off a rough loss to Norwalk on Saturday the 12th losing by a deficit of 33 on the day. Junior guards Ethan Lewis and Tanner Schminke had been making the offense work smoother, combining for a total of 23.8 points per game on the season.
The first quarter was a nice for the Toreadors, as they started off hot with a six nothing lead. The rest of the quarter was a back and forth battle, both teams playing well.
The next quarter was all Boone, only allowing the Bobcats to five points in addition to running an efficient offense. As halftime was approaching, the Toreadors had a small but comfortable lead, and went into the locker room with a lead of 26-20.
As the second half began, the Bobcats came out with a great quarter. The offense was led by senior guard Aaron Hauser, and Marshalltown slowly pulled away, scoring 22 points and limiting the Toreadors to only 11.
The fourth quarter, much like the first one, was a back and forth battle. As the game neared the end, Boone’s forward senior Danny Anderson and Schminke lead the Toreadors offense, putting up a combined total of 33 points. But it wasn’t enough, as the Bobcats prevailed with a final score of 59-50.
