One of Boone’s finest athletes senior Alex Carey has decided to further his education and athletic career next year as he will attend Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin.
Ashland is like “nowhere else on Earth” according to www.northland.edu. They have a population 8,130 people and an average annual inch of snowfall is 57 inches.
“I was looking for small schools that had meteorology and a place that I could live my life’s dream in baseball. I went up there this summer to try out for the baseball team, and I really connected with the coaching staff. After the tryouts, I signed my letter and committed,” said Carey about Northland.
Carey had a 1.000% batting average last year, and had a 1.000% fielding percentage from the field.
“I hope to make an impact at Northland baseball team as early as possible with a goal of winning the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference,” said Carey about his hopes for a role on the team.
Carey chose Northland because of their meteorology program. “When I was little I always used to be afraid of the weather and thunderstorms and especially tornados. But now that I have grown up I kind of like the weather and it interests me.”
“I also want to be involved in storm chasing, I will enjoy walking around the campus, and will be an avid supporter of Northland Athletics. Roll Jacks!” Best of luck to Alex Carey and his future endeavors at Northland College.
