The boys were back in action Friday night at Kate Shelley Fieldhouse. The Toreadors were very desperate for a win as was Ballard. Boone came in on a three game skid, the roster was not full Freshman Jonathan Herrick had to step up and suit for the varsity.  The Boone boys have not beaten the Bombers since they joined the Raccoon River Conference. The Toreadors needed a win if they wanted to compete in the conference race.

The Toreadors and Bombers exchanged blows throughout the first half, it was a defensive battle. The game was played in Boone’s favor all night long. A halftime score or 16-17, is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Senior Jacob Johnson had a great game with 17 points he hit some big threes and kept the Dors rollin’ in the second half. Ashton Clemons cleaned up the boards as he has done all year long. His contributions to the team could not be replaced. His 9 points 11 rebounds were huge. Boone prevailed late when Junior, Kolby Jenson missed 2 free throws with seconds in the balance. The Toreadors beat Ballard 45 to 43, and the streak was finally broken.

The Boone Toreadors and Winterset Huskies faced off Tuesday, February 3 in Kate Shelley Field House. After the Huskies pulled off a 5 point win in Winterset the Toreadors were ready for revenge. At the end of the first half the Dors had a five point lead going into the locker room. The Boone girls performed in the second half by shutting the Huskies out and holding them to only 11 points. Boone took their 11th win of the season with a final score of 58-33.

In the first quarter the Toreadors pulled away early with drives to the bucket by Seniors Mariah McPartland and Serena Sandvig. The Huskies could stop the drives but somehow they found their self down by four at the end of the first quarter.

Winterset slowed down the duo in the 2nd quarter. Meanwhile Senior Mariah Criswell of Winterset dropped some bucket behind the arc. Boone Senior Carrie Overland responded by doing the same and the Dors had a five point lead going into the third quarter.

Out of the locker rooms, the Toreadors demolished the Huskies. Boone put up 16 points while their defense was also on point by holding Winterset to only two points. Once again the Huskies couldn’t stop McPartland in the paint.

Boone’s dominant defense showed back up in the final quarter. The Dors held Winterset to only 11 points in the 2nd half. After a heartbreaking loss in Winterset the Boone girls blew out the Huskies for revenge.
