The Boone Toreadors look to bounce back this season after a disappointing postseason last year. Boone ended their season with six wins, and fifteen losses.
The Toreadors’ head basketball coach, Justin Baute, has started off his coaching tenure with Boone a little slow as his overall record is 10 and 32.
A Boone TV representative was able to sit down with junior point guard Ethan Lewis this past week. Lewis explained why this year’s squad will have a shot at a decent record, “There's a lot of talent on our team offensively and defensively and if we can play together I think we can be really good and win a lot of games.”
He elaborated on this by saying, “I'm looking to play with more confidence and more leadership. In the off-season I've been lifting to improve in finishing at the rim and being overall stronger with the ball in my hands.”
The Toreadors have a lot of inexperience this year because of the loss of six seniors from last year. “While many of the guys are inexperienced, we have a lot of chemistry. Coach Baute will put us in a position to be successful, we just have to go out and execute,” said junior swingman Lane Losh.
Boone will look to start the season with a 1-0 record. Come out on December 1st to support the Boone Toreadors basketball team at 7:30 as they play the Newton Cardinals.
