This past Thursday the Boone Boys swim team went up against Newton (NCMP) and Spencer. The final scores ended up being Boone 51-Newton 43 and Boone 58-Spencer 36.
“Tonight was a bit of a grind for these boys. It is their first dual meet of the season, and we push tough practices right through dual meets. With a hard weight room session in the morning, I wasn't really sure how they would adapt for the first weeknight meet of the year. That being said, we had some very solid swims.” said coach Chris Mann, some of the “solid” swims were from Ben Patterson (Freshman) who swam a 100 Fly in 1:09.04 that landed him a 3rd place finish.
Some other top finishes for the night were from Cole Harper (Senior) and Reece Powell (Senior). “Cole had a perfect night as far as wins go, taking all 4 of his events. Reece Powell also had a great night - especially some of the times he went.” Said coach Mann. Powell placed 1st in both the 50 free with a time of 23.38 and the 100 free with a time of 52.14.
The boys hope to transition some of their success from Thursday’s meet into the next one. Catch the Swim team in action next on Saturday, December 9th at Hoover.
