Boone Boys Tennis traveled to Norwalk this past Tuesday looking to start the season off successfully. They did just that with confidence as the Toreadors completed a clean sweep against the Warriors beating them with a score of 11-0.
The meet started off with singles as the top varsity of Boone played against Norwalks finest tennis players. The Toreador’s number one player senior Danny Anderson started Boone off on the right track, winning the match by a score of 6-1 and 6-4. The number two match up was a nail biter as junior Andrew Troe went into a super tiebreaker winning the match by a score of 7-6, 5-7 and 10-4. Boone would not lose a varsity singles match improving the lead to six to nothing.
Varsity doubles was much of the same as number three senior Ethan Patterson and sophomore Jackson Zehr won their match with a score of 6-0, 6-4. Another nail biter was the doubles match of junior Caden Burkamper and sophomore Mason Hulse, but they moved on to win the super tiebreaker with a score of 3-6, 6-2, 10-5. In fact, five super tiebreakers were played against the Warriors and the Toreadors won all five.
Boone has a packed schedule moving on, and they will look to continue the winning tradition. The Toreador’s junior varsity team went undefeated last year and won once again last Tuesday with a final score of 40-10-9.
Boone has another meet against the Newton Cardinals on Thursday, April 7th, at 4:15pm.
