Last Thursday night Boone High School´s volleyball team traveled to Waverly- Shell Rock to play in their Semi-Final Regional match. W-SR hit the gas petal early and didn't slow down, ending the game in three sets.
In the first set W-SR´s senior Anna Gasch was taking shots and shutting down Boone´s defense with a series of kills. The Go-Hawks continued their high paced offense and found themselves with a 8-1 lead over Boone early in the set. Toreador sophomore Claire Sandvig gave Boone some hope late in the set but it was too late, W-SR shut down Boone and took the first set with a score of 25-12.
Boone jumped out to an early lead in the second set adjusting to the Go-Hawks fierce offense. Boone´s libero senior Stephanie Davis held the team on her back after pancaking some bullets rifled at the ground from W-SR to continue the rally. Once again the Go-Hawks found themselves on top at the end of the set with the score being 25-18.
Boone fought W-SR in the third set, but once again the Toreadors couldn't find the strength to take down the Go-Hawks. Boone took the loss in the third set 25-17.
The Boone Volleyball team ended the season following the loss to W-SR. Boone´s final record was 13-23.
Toreador senior, Carlie Romig, still found a positive note after the loss ¨I played with a bunch of great girls with big hearts that made a huge impact on my last season of volleyball¨.
