This upcoming Friday, the Boone Toreador football team will take a trip to Gilbert to take on the eighth ranked Tigers on their homecoming night. The Toreadors are coming off of a strong 41-0 win against the Perry Bluejays. The Tigers are also coming off of a 33-12 win against Iowa Falls-Alden.
The Toreadors are looking strong on both ends of the ball. The ‘Dors offense is lead by senior Tanner Schminke, senior Elijah Johnson, and junior Mason Hulse. Schminke and Johnson are leading the team in rushing as they both have rushed for 300 plus yards and a combined total of six rushing touchdowns. Schminke also has 556 passing yards for seven touchdowns. Mason Hulse leads the team in receiving with 207 yards and three touchdowns. For defense, the ‘Dors are led by Colbey Wadsworth, Tanner Schminke, and Kade Morain. Wadsworth has 24 tackles, Schminke has 23 tackles, and Morain has 21 tackles. Schminke also has added an interception for a touchdown.
The Tigers are showing a strong run game as senior Cody Dvorak and senior Steven Lawrence both have rushed for 400 plus yards. Dvorak leads the team in rushing touchdowns with eight. He also has two receiving touchdowns. Lawrence has four rushing touchdowns on top of four passing touchdowns as well. Their defense is showing toughness as senior Christian Harder leads the team in tackles. Dvorak also has an interception for a touchdown.
Boone is traveling to GIlbert to take on the eighth ranked Tigers and it is now the game of the week on channel 5. Boone is looking to improve their record to four wins and only one loss. GIlbert is looking to keep their undefeated season alive.
