On Thursday the Boys swim team went against rival Carroll and were looking for redemption. Boone found that redemption, with a final score of Boone 90-Carroll 80. At the last meet, Carroll won 102-68. “I knew that we swam our worst meet of the year when we went to Carroll in December (and they swam their best). The outcome of that meet was not what we wanted at all.” says coach Chris Mann.
Cole Harper had a two-second time drop in the 200 Free. Coach Mann said of the meet, “swimming at home tonight we came out with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement.” That excitement showed with team captain Reese Powell, who came out victorious in the 100 free, surpassing Carrol’s top sprinter, Sebastian Pek, with a time of 50.41. Freshman Ben Patterson was the anchor in the varsity B relay for the 400 free and out-touched the Carroll B relay. These close victories helped the Toreadors to capture the meet.
As the Boys swim season is wrapping up there are only a few meets left before the conference, district, and state meets. The boy’s next meet is Thursday, January 18.
