On Saturday Boone Swimming competed in their conference meet, this meet was the last meet for some of the swimmers, and only the beginning of championship meets for most of the team.” “I am so proud of this team! At the beginning of the year, I told them straight out, ‘We are not a team that can be good unless we work hard.’ And they bought in and worked hard and now it paid off” Says Coach Mann. Boone won the meet with a score of 492 with the closest team to them being Newton with a score of 466.
This meet is the last home meet of the season, and the boys went out with a bang, Junior Mason Patterson had a 1.3 second time drop in the 100 free, and there were many more time drops like this such as freshman Ike Seeman, who dropped 1.2 seconds in the 100 free.
There were also time drops from the boys who are continuing onto districts and hopefully state. Senior Reece Powell dropped 0.4 seconds in the 50 free, 1.0 in his 100 free split. Senior Cole Harper dropped 1.2 seconds in his 100 breaststroke. Senior Grant Hamilton cut 0.5 seconds off his time in the 50 freestyle, and Junior hunter Sherry dropped 2.5 seconds in the 200 breaststroke.
The boys are in their last two weeks of their season, and all the only meets they have left are districts, and a potential spot in the state meet at Iowa City. Catch the Boys Swim team in action next on February 3rd at Fort Dodge.
