WIth an action packed schedule, the Boone Boys Tennis team looked to keep the ball rolling when they took the long travel to Waterloo Columbus to take on what was a very good team in their last matchup. With the Toreadors coming off a hot win just the night before against Pella, this meet they looked to carry on the success.
The Toreadors senior Danny Anderson has been hot at the number one singles spot this year thus far. He was up against Waterloo’s number one senior Carson Ellingson. Anderson came out with a great first set winning with a score of 6-3, but Ellingson gave quite the battle winning the second set 6-2 forcing a super tiebreaker. The tiebreaker was extremely close but Boone’s Anderson would pull out with a victory 10-8.
Boone’s number five player junior Caden Burkamper played Waterloo’s number five sophomore Dylan Steffen. Burkamper would narrowly win the first set with a score of 7-5, but Steffen would battle back in the second set to win it 6-2. This forced a super tiebreaker that Burkamper would move on to win 10-7.
Boone’s top six players would round out the singles for this meet sweeping them with a final score of 6-0, needing four super tiebreakers to accomplish it.
