Boone High School Boys Tennis is looking to start the season off right with a successful meet in Norwalk tonight. With eight returning lettermen and a deep roster, the Toreadors are poised to have a great year.
With senior Danny Anderson returning at the number one spot for the Toreadors and a trip to state with his doubles partner Paul Solomon last year, Anderson will look to find new chemistry with his new doubles partner, junior Andrew Troe.
Last year’s matchup with the Norwalk Warriors was a great outing for the Toreadors, scoring a clean sweep, with a score of 11-0. Not only will the varsity team look for a great night, but the junior varsity team, who is coming off an undefeated previous season, will look to as well.
With three full weeks of preparation and anticipation building up for this first meet coach Jeff Wells elaborates how important this first meet is, “We’re ready, we’ve only had one rained out practice so we’re more than ready to play an opponent rather than ourselves.”
Norwalk will look to get off on the right hand this year rather than the way they did last year dropping their first five matches with a combined score of five to 50.
The Toreador tennis team travels to Norwalk Tuesday at 4:15 PM.
