The Pella Dutch traveled to Boone to this past Monday as they looked to continue their success coming off a third place finish at a challenging meet in the Johnston invitational. With the Dutch coming off an impressive 10-1 win over Indianola, the Toreadors looked to kill their momentum.
The meet kicked off with a intense singles match of Boone’s number one player senior Danny Anderson up against Pella’s number one junior Ani Tangellapalli. The first set was won by Tangellapalli with a score of 7-6, but Anderson would come from behind and win the next set and super tiebreaker 6-4, 10-5.
By the time singles were nearing an end the score was still close with the Toreadors edging the Dutch with a score of 4-2. When doubles rolled around it was all Boone, Anderson played with senior Ethan Patterson for the first time in a meet and edged their opponent with a score of 6-1, 6-3. What may have been the best match of the day was sophomore Cody Frame and junior Austin Coleman as they dropped the first set 2-6, then came back and won the second set 6-2 to force a super tiebreaker that was just won by Frame and Coleman 12-10.
Boone finished Pella off with the final score of 9-2. Boone's Junior Varsity continued their success with a victory score of 28-7.
