The Toreadors (1-4) face a daunting task on Homecoming when the Carroll Tigers (3-2) and their running attack invade Goeppinger Field.
Senior running back, Matt Pauk, is pumping out 6.8 yards per carry this season and he isn’t showing signs of slowing down. Boone looks to bounce back after being defeated at the hands of the Mustangs from Grimes. The ‘Dors have had issues stopping the run this season, and Carroll will give them all they can handle. On the offensive side of the ball, junior quarterback, Tanner Schminke, is looking to rebound from a rough game against Grimes, where the offense never really got going. Sophomore wide receiver, John Herrick, started the season hot and is looking to rekindle that flame.
“I’m just doing whatever I can to make grabs and lead us to victory.” said Herrick. “After a rough game vs. DCG, we have moved on and are ready for our homecoming game against Carroll.”
The ground game for Boone is led by junior running back, Kaden Sherrard. Although he was held in check against DCG, he got a heavy dose of carries versus Perry and had good results. Junior running bacl, Eli Johnson, and senior running back, Brigham Campbell, are the supporting cast in the backfield. Sherrard and company will have to chew some clock running the ball in order to keep the defense off the field. Sherrard is very confident in the team’s progress.
“This team has a lot of potential. We have been discovering that potential lately and we are growing as a team.” said Sherrard. “We are very eager to show our new found strength to Carroll and claim the win on Friday.”
