The drill team kicked the clinic off by checking in and warming up the kindergarten through 8th grade participants. After warm ups, the kids found their designated teachers and began learning a dance that they would showcase for friends and family later that night. The rest of the day included lunch, games, and a lot of dancing.
Junior Madi Neely and freshman Halle Walker taught the kindergarteners, as sophomore Saydie Howard and freshman Brooke Young taught the 1st graders. Sophomores Madi Desher and Kendra Allen took on the 2nd graders; sophomore Kameryn Newcomb and freshman Taylor Povah taught the 3rd graders; sophomore Molly Osweiler and freshman Harper Larson taught the 4th graders; seniors Sarah Heiller and Erin Kinne, along with sophomore Alyssa Kraft, taught the combined class of 5th and 6th graders; and lastly, senior Kennedey Bass and freshman Anna Olsen took on the combined class of 7th and 8th graders.
At the final performance of the night, friends and family of the drill team members and participants gathered to watch all the dances, including the drill team’s own routines.
At the end of the night, friends, family, and team members said goodbye to seniors Kinne, Bass, and Heiller in a farewell presentation, marking the end of their drill team careers.
Even though the the drill team season is over, the members will still be working hard for the next tryouts to get started for another season. After tryouts, they will start work on routines in the summer to be fully prepared for next year’s state drill team competition.
