On Tuesday, September 1, the Boone Varsity boys cross country team traveled to Webster City to compete in the Lynx Invitational. Competing for the boys varsity team was Derek Hahn, Ethan Patterson, Brant Phillips, Noah Lee, Max Hyatt, Cody Frame, and Jimmy Boustead. They competed on a 5k course that appeared to be hilly. Senior, Derek Hahn agreed. “It was a pretty smooth day. It was kind of a challenge running at some points, because there were quite a few hills on the first day and when you’re running up hills you use most of your energy. We also didn’t get to do hill workouts much before the first meet, making it more difficult to run a course like that.” Hahn still managed to achieve a 16th place finish, making him the first Boone runner to cross the finish line. He finished with a time of 20:32. The Boone varsity boys as a team took tenth place. The Toreadors next meet will take place on Thursday, September 3, at 5:30 pm at the ISU Cross Country course in Ames. |
