With a successful season thus far Boone girls swimming looked to continue their winning tradition with a senior night meet against Newton. With three seniors swimming for the last time in the Boone High pool they looked for a dominate performance and they had just that.
To start the night was the 200 meter medley relay, including seniors Madelynn Santi, Erin Kokemiller, Anne Marie DeVries and junior Haley Hall. They started the night with a win with a winning time of 1:56.30.
Kokemiller would go on to grab an impressive win in the 200 IM with a time of 2:19.20. Santi would place second with a time of 2:25.46.
Head coach Chris Mann had this to say about the meet, “Senior night is always full of emotions. Sometimes it has a negative effect on the performances, sometimes a positive effect. We were mostly positive swims.. Madelynn had 2 spectacular swims going 1:04 for the first time this season in the back, and 58.2 in her 4free split. Those two times are just off her taper times, so she is looking prime for conference/regionals.You could tell they were swimming with a little fire being their last swim at home. Erin had great races in her IM and 100 split as well.”
Overall it was a terrific meet for the girls and a much needed win on senior night. With that win the swim team is now 21-5 overall.
