On Monday, April 18th, the Boone Golf team hit the road for their first 18 hole invitational of the year. The team traveled to State Center to compete against 12 other teams at the Lincoln Valley golf course. Boone was coming off of an average performance at Westwood golf course in Newton and they were looking for a high finish.
Boone finished 3rd out of 13 teams and junior Ethan Lewis finished 10th out of 78 golfers with an 81 and was a medalist. Sophomore Taylor Wauhob had a great performance as he also shot an 81. It was an average day for junior Tanner Schminke as he recorded an 83. Junior Lance Losh shot a 94. Senior Dalton Huseman had a disappointing day as he shot an 86, but he is optimistic about his game.
“I didn’t play as well as I would’ve liked, but overall my game is in a good place,” said Huseman.
Boone shot a 331 and trailed only Grinnell and Nevada. This was a positive performance and will set the tone for future invitationals.
Boone’s next 18 hole invitational is Monday, April 25th, at Gateway Recreation in Monroe.
