This year’s Raccoon River Conference golf meet was held at Copper Creek Golf Course in Pleasant Hill, and was hosted by Carlisle. Due to weather concerns, the meet was cut to a 9-hole competition, as opposed to the usual 18 holes.
After battling the wet course, the Boone boys came away with their first ever Raccoon River Conference title. The Toreadors recorded a team score of 155, with ADM following closely behind at 156 strokes. The Carroll Tigers finished with a 157.
Senior Dalton Huseman led the way with an even par score of 36, which earned him an individual conference crown.
Juniors Tanner Schminke and Ethan Lewis also filled out impressive scorecards. Schminke shot a 38 (+2) and Lewis recorded a 40 (+4).
Sophomore Taylor Wauhob stepped up to fill the 4th Varsity score, with a 41(+5).
Along with the Conference title, the golf team also received additional hardware. Coach Steve Sandvig was awarded Raccoon River Conference coach of the year.
The Boone boys will attempt to achieve even more post-season success this Thursday, with the District golf meet in Polk City.
