On Tuesday, April 26th, the Boone Golf team hosted a meet at their home course of Cedar Pointe. The teams that participated were Boone, Carlisle, and Carroll Kuemper. Carroll Kuemper is a premier 2A golf team and presented Boone with a great challenge. Boone was coming off of an 18 hole invitational where the scores were consistent. The Toreadors have been playing solid golf as of late, just in time for Conference and Sectionals.
Senior Dalton Huseman put up a very nice score of 39 to lead the Toreadors. He struggled on his final hole and missed an opportunity to cut a few strokes, but he played great golf nonetheless. Junior Ethan Lewis checked in for another day at the office and proved he is an extremely consistent golfer scoring a solid 41. A nice surprise this season has been the emergence of sophomore Ben Wagner. He shot a 41 and proved he belongs with the top golfers. Junior Lance Losh hit a career low score of 43 and provided the fourth score for the Toreadors. Junior
Tanner Schminke has struggled lately and shot a 44. Sophomore Taylor Wauhob has had a few nice rounds this season, but couldn’t find the groove today as he recorded a 47 to bring up the rear for Boone’s varsity six. Senior Dalton Huseman is positive about his recent rounds.
“I have been scoring well and putting the ball close enough to have a chance at a 1 putt. It is all about being positive and being able to move onto the next shot,” said Huseman.
Boone placed 2nd in the meet with a 164 and lost only to Carroll Kuemper who had a 159. This is a good showing for Boone considering the meet was played on the back 9, which is a much different habitat than the team is used to.
The next meet for the Toreadors takes place on Thursday, April 28th, as they host the ADM Tigers and the Winterset Huskies at Cedar Pointe golf course.
