After a dominant win at home against conference rival, the Perry Bluejays, the ‘Dors look to keep going strong with another win against the Dallas-Center Grimes Mustangs on Friday, September 25th, at Dallas-Center Grimes High School at 7:30.
The Toreadors enter this contest against the Mustangs with a record of one win and three losses. While the enemy comes in with a record of three wins and one loss on the season. Neither team has a common opponent on their schedule. Toreadors look to build on the defensive side.
“We need to come together as a defense, and overall be more physical. That's what we're focusing on right now in practice, and if we can help our offense by making stops, they will get the job done by scoring.” said Junior Defensive End, Tanner Frost.
Junior Quarterback Tanner Schminke feels that the passing game will continue to be a strong point for the Toreadors. “I think our passing will be just as effective against DCG as it has been in the past because we are lucky enough to have two of the best receivers in the state, and plenty more that have the potential.” Senior Wide Receiver Danny Anderson is number one is 3A for receiving yardage with 499 yards and eight touchdowns. Sophomore Wide Receiver Johnathan Herrick isn’t far behind at seventh in 3A with 320 yards and four touchdowns.
Toreadors’ top tier passing and defense gives them a fighting chance at a two and three record.
