Anyone who wakes up feeling as fabulous as sophomore John Herrick just loves life. “The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is head down to my kitchen and make myself a bowl of Fruity Pebbles.”
Herrick participates in football and basketball. This year in football he earned the honors of All-District First Team, All-District Academic, and Offensive MVP. “I’m very proud of everything I received this year, and I’m looking forward to next season,” he elaborated by saying, “Our offense this year was very impressive, but it just wasn’t enough to withstand the tough teams that we played.”
Herrick also played basketball, last year as a freshman, he had a significant amount of varsity minutes. “I played the role that I was supposed to play, believed in Coach Baute’s system, and had a pretty good year.” This year he’s looking to be a force, “I just want to help my team win games, and if that means scoring, I’ll score, if that means playing good defense that’s what I’ll do.”
He has been setting himself up for greatness this year by playing summer AAU basketball in the offseason, working with his trainer, and showing up to open gyms.
Herrick looks forward to this season by setting his goals high, “I want to lead the team in scoring, and lead the team in rebounding.”
Good luck to him and the ‘Dors as they look to have a successful season this year.
