The Boone Volleyball team headed to Gilbert on Tuesday, September 13 to play in a triangular against Gilbert and Roland Story. The Girls came off of two big wins against Carroll and Winterset. The Toreadors went up against Roland Story in the first match.
The first game was a close one with a score of Toreadors 25-19. The second game was tougher for the Toreadors; Roland came back ready to win, but Boone was not having it they beat Roland Story with the Toreadors up at 25-22.
Boone’s head coach, Danielle Schmidt, comments on the Roland games, “Our match [against] Roland Story was not our cleanest or most efficient performance, but we found a way to play through the adversity and get the win, and we took advantage of having a lot of offensive options.”
Boone came up against some very tough competition for their second match of the night against Gilbert. The Toreador’s setter Jessica Lewis, a junior said, “Gilbert came out really strong with some hard swings.” The Toreadors lost the first match; the score was Toreadors 19-25. They then lost some of their momentum and lost the next game, 18-25.
“The first game we were really strong, and were defending their hard hits. The second game we got a little tired, so we need to work on staying strong ‘til the end,” said senior Allie Swanson.
