The 6-4 Boone Toreadors took their talents to Carroll, Iowa to face off the 1-9 Carroll Tigers.
The Boone girls just came off a great with against a good ADM team a few days before and looked to continue their hot streak. The ‘Dors took off early and weren't looking back. The 1 half score was 49-13. The girls slowed down their intensity in the second half but still put up good numbers. The girls closed out the game with a final score of 73-20.
The ‘Dors started the game with Senior Carrie Overland, Sophomore Dianna Slight, Senior Serena Sandvig, Freshman Caitlynne Shadle, and Senior Mariah McPartland. The Toreadors came out with high intensity by putting up 25 points in the first quarter and holding the Carroll girls to only 1 point.
Boone didn't slow down in the second quarter either. By racking up 24 more points in the second quarter the Dor increased their lead to 36 points, (the highest lead in their season so far). The Tigers were only able to add 12 points in the second quarter and needed to do something different if they wanted to make this game anywhere close.
By the IHSAA (Iowa High School Athletic Association) when a team lead the game by 35 or more the clock goes continuous until the lead drops under 35.
Throughout the whole second half the Boone girls lead by 35 or more leading to a quick half. The ‘Dors kept up their scoring ways by adding another 16 points and only holding the Tigers to just 3 in the third quarter.
The Toreadors ended the game by outscoring the Tigers. The final score of the game was 73-20, making this a team record for opponents points. Also this has been a season high for the girls.
