This past Tuesday the Toreador boys soccer team took on the Carroll Tigers in the home opener at Goeppinger Field. The Toreadors came into the game looking for the first win of the season.
The Toreadors came out fast and scored a goal in the first ten minutes of the game. A few minutes later the Toreadors scored another goal to put them up 2-0 with thirty minutes left in the half. With sixteen minutes left junior Ryan Dow scored a goal making the score 3-0. Just before the half the Toreadors scored a quick two goals and headed into half up 5-0 with Dow leading all scorers with two goals.
Halfway through the second half Boone struck again and extended the lead by 6. The Toreadors would go on to score one more goal and they got the win with a score of 7-0.
Boone’s senior goalkeeper, Marcelo Alacron, finished the game with a clean sheet for the Toreadors, as he didn’t allow any goals. Junior Ryan Dow and senior Gabriel Shinzato led the Toreadors in scoring, with each getting two goals. “We did a good job of staying aggressive and not letting up. We also did a good job defensively and giving full effort,” said Dow.
The Toreadors picked up their first win of the year and it is also head coach Connor Doyle’s first win as a coach for the Toreadors.
