The Boone Toreador Varsity volleyball team went 3-2 after a long fight over the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers on September 1.
Boone started out hot, winning the first set 25-15. The Tigers came back strong winning the second set, 25-20, and the third set 25-13. Despite the Toreadors being down two games to one, The Toreadors fought back to take a close fourth game, 25-23. During the fifth and deciding set, the student section kept the energy high, helping push the Toreadors to take the fifth set and secure the victory.
Senior Libero, Stephanie Davis, recorded a total of 21 digs and 11 serve successes. She led the Toreadors with two aces.
Junior, Allie Swanson led with 8 kills. Senior, Carlie Romig and Sophomore Claire Sandvig, were right behind Swanson with 7 kills each.
Sophomore Setter, Jessica Lewis recorded a total of 38 sets. Lewis said, ”As a sophomore it is really nerve-wracking, and the way I can get over it is to think I can do my best, and then I will do my best.”
Next up for the Toreadors will be the Carroll Tigers, on September 8 at Carroll High School. They will look to build upon this upset victory.
