The day started off against the home team, Forest City. The Toreadors started strong winning the first set. Forest City came out strong and beat Boone by 10 points in the second set evening the match at 1-1. Unfortunately, Forest City was able to tack on another game, thus defeating Boone.
The next game the Toreadors had to face a very talented Central Springs team. Boone played a hard match, not letting Central Springs get a dominating lead in either set. The first set was back and forth ending in a 25-19 Central Springs win. The second game went the same way with a close 21-25 loss.
Next up for Boone was Algona. The Toreadors came out hot winning the first set 25-19. Algona was able to come away with the next 2 sets, and claimed a 2-1 victory.
The Toreadors then had to face Spencer. Once again, Boone came out playing well, winning the first set 25-22. They were able to keep the momentum going into the second set. Spencer played a hard game, but The Toreadors showed up to play and secured the win. Boone walked away scratch free with a 2-0 victory over Spencer.
Boone’s final match of the day came against Webster City. After a very long day the team had to deal with some fatigue, the match started off with Webster City coming away with a 28-26 win in the first set. Boone came back in the second set winning by 8 points and sending it to the 3rd set. Boone fought hard, but Webster City was able to come out on top.
The Toreadors had to face some challenges throughout the day, as junior Lauren Calkins said, “We had some struggles with some people getting injured, and we had to step up and fill the positions that were needed.”
Boone was able to play hard against some good teams and end the day at 1-4.
