Boone went up against West-Marshal in the first round. Boone had a total of 24 points while West-Marshal was sitting with 52 points. The Toreadors did manage to get four pins against West-Marshal. In the next round, Boone went up against Gilbert with 32 points and Gilbert at 45 points. The team got in six wins against Gilbert. In the third round they went up against Nevada and scored 49 while Nevada stole 36.
Sophomore, Alex Wheeler, in the 170 pound weight class, won against all of his opponents. Alex would go in quick and fast, knocking his competitors off of their feet; he would then get the pin. Junior, Jacob Melton, at 285 pounds, also won against all of his opponents. He struggled against Gilbert, but held through all three rounds and got in more points and won. Freshman, Braxton Wright, at 113 pounds, won against all two of his opponents, due to Gilbert holding Braxton’s weight class open. Braxton goes for the fast and quick pins, which surprises his competitors.
Boone tried their hardest at this meet and they are learning from their losses and mistakes. They are ready to take on their next competition at a meet on Thursday, January 21 at 5:30pm.
